A security flaw threatening “up to 70% of the internet”? That’s quite a headline to wake up to.

If you’ve seen the news about PHP2Shell, here’s the good news: My IT Guy’s web hosting servers have already been patched. If we host your website, there’s nothing you need to do to apply this server-side fix. We’ve taken care of it.

What happened?

Researchers discovered two serious security flaws in PHP, the software behind many websites. On an unpatched server, attackers could exploit these flaws to run malicious code without logging in.

It’s a big deal because PHP is so widely used, but being potentially affected isn’t the same as being hacked. Security updates are available, and installing them is the essential fix.

Hosting your website somewhere else?

Please contact your web hosting provider promptly and ask:

“Have you applied the PHP2Shell security updates to the server and PHP version running our website?”

This is a hosting-level update. Updating your website’s
plugins alone won’t fix the underlying PHP vulnerability.
